We have been trying to toilet train my daughter (4yr old) but failed. She seem to be deep at sleep and fail to wake up in time when she wet the bed. On the first night that she weared this device, she wake up immediately by the alarm. After that, on subsequent nights, she was able to sleep through. There has been no more wetting for the past 3 weeks. She was even able to wake up in the middle of her sleep (nap time) when she feel the urge. I dont know how, but this things works. The device is a bit expensive, but look at all the effort to clean up, it is definitely worth it. One thing can be further improve is the choice of melodies... May be, more interesting music should be used rather then few choices of machine or bell sound. This should make it more fun to use for the kids.

We have had the green alarm since before Christmas 2011 and it still is not alarming. I put in fresh batteries. Spoke with the salesperson on the phone. they set it with me. Then I put it on my child and still no alarm. I am frustrated as it was our hope that my child would have it together by summer so he could go to summer camp without a problem. Help needed. j.

Very good product. I wish we would start using it earlier. One thing needed to remind the new user is please be very carefully to make sure the clip of the sensor is open after using, or the battery will be gone very quickly.

I have used many different bedwetting alarms in my professional life. When it came time to buy one for my own son, I decided to use the Malem wireless. I am so glad I did. It is a great product in all ways. My son (almost 6) quickly learned how to hook it up himself and turn off the alarm. We used it for 6 weeks. In this time, he only soaked the bed twice and wet his underwear four times. Prior to the alarm he was wetting the bed every night. Having the different, random alarm sounds is great because it prevents the child from habituating to the noise. Of note - my son is hearing impaired and I was worried that he would not hear the alarm well (since he doesn't wear his hearing aids while sleeping). This was not an issue at all! I highly recommend this alarm - my son is dry every night and so proud of himself!

I bought this product for my nearly 7 year-old daughter who was wet almost every night. We had success with the alarm right away the first week. In the first month of use, she was only wet 7 times and now after about 6 weeks, is only wet about every 7-10 days. We definitely feel it is working for her and although the monitor bothered her a little at first, she is completely used to it now.

BEST USES

Comments:

This product works for the use intended. We are on day 14 and have had the 1st dry night ever (in 8 years!) The alarm is loud enough to wake parents and after a night or two my son also stopped sleeping through it. The wireless aspect is great. My son is very sensitive to anything uncomfortable and is also a deep sleeper who moves around alot. This alarm has been very comfortable and has not fallen off once. The one drawback is the clip. My son can unclip it when wet with no problem but getting it on a dry pair of underwear is challenging especially in the middle of the night using a nightlight. Even as an adult, it took me a few tries each night to get it right until I got used to it. It is also so small that placement can be difficult once the child gets to the point of just wetting a few drops and then waking up. This is probobly more true for boys since thier equipment is moveable. However, that wasn't an insurmountable obstacle and actually lead to a few nights where he woke up at the 1st drop even though the alarm didn't sound. Overall the product is worth the $ and for us has shown some good early results. One last tip- I found that you can clip it to cotton underwear and then cover with a pull-up. This method saved me alot of laundry with sheets but still had the alarm going off as long as the wet spot was where the sensor was.

My son had been day-trained for a long time, but was *never* dry overnight. He had outgrown cloth diapers (even a double-stuffed snap pocket with a wool cover added). Pull-ups were money in the trash--and they sometimes leaked. Within just 4 days after we started using the alarm, he began waking up to use the bathroom during the night. By the end of a month, he was dry almost every night! I'd recommend this for any child who is potty-trained but not making progress at night.

My son is 7 years old and has been potty trained since age 2 but has been wetting the bed and wearing Goodnites underwear since then. We had tried everything including medication to help him. NOTHING WORKED UNTIL NOW! It was definitely not behavioral as he was very frustrated with this situation himself. He has always been a hard sleeper and the urge to go never woke him up. We started using this alarm and it worked within 2 weeks. The first couple of days were rough waking up several times throughout the night but by the 3rd night it was getting less and less until he would wake up on his own. He has been dry for 3 months now and I still find it amazing how this works and am so thankful this product exists!!! I like that it involves the child as well and is such a confidence builder. he now feels comfortable having sleep overs and camping trips. My only wish is that I would have tried this sooner. I highly recommend this product!!!!!!

I started using on my 5 year old son. We have been using it for 14 weeks now and this past week was his best yet. He had gone 9 days without any wet days however last night we had a minor setback and he wet the bed. I really thought this was going to be it but at least I have seen a major improvement. He used to wet the bed about 3 days a week and now its very seldom. He really likes his malem alarm and tells me he wants to save it for when he has a son one day. When I mentioned to him that soon he may not need it he said "no mommy I still want to use it".

My 7 year old son hated wearing the device. It slipped off one night and he was soaked. He wore it one more night, complained about wearing it and said he'd never wear it again. He decided about 2 weeks later that he could stop wetting the bed on his own, and he did! The device was a good deterrent.

We kept telling my son he would outgrow his bed wetting when his body was ready, but as he approached his 10th birthday it was troubling him. Our pediatrician offered two options: medication or getting a bed-wetting alarm. We opted for the alarm - it was very easy to use - clip it on your underwear and turn on the receiver. He could do this himself. Do need to wear fitted underwear (boxer shorts are too loose and the sensor didn't get wet enough to trip). He is a sound sleeper - the first few nights I had to wake him up after hearing the alarm go off for 10 minutes- and it is loud! Within 2 weeks he was getting up routinely on his own. After about a 4-5 weeks he was dry every night. Has been a great boost to his confidence. Now am thinking why didn't I try this a year ago!

Comments:

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this alarm! I wished we tried an alarm years ago! After every Pediatrician visit I'd ask when he was going to be dry, and the response was always, don't worry it's normal, so I waited ... and waited. By the time my son was 7, we felt it was starting to negatively affect his self esteem, and we were having to forego fun activites like Cub Scouts because we couldn't do overnights soaking through a pull-up. We were at the point that I was changing a fully soaked (through a pull-up) bed 6-7 days a week with no signs of lessening with age. We got a Malem Selectable Ultimate (wired alarm) and it did an incredible job of quickly helping my 7 year old go from soaking the bed 6 nights a week, to a tiny drop (no wet bed without a pull-up - I was THRILLED!) once every 3 weeks or so. After several months of consistent use, he was still have very tiny accidents (alarm goes off right away, so no doesn't even get the bed wet) every 3 weeks or so and we realized that it was going to take him longer than average to achieve consistent full dryness. The shoulder unit on the Malem wired alarms is pretty big and for longer-term use was uncomfortable on his shoulder, plus the long wire botherd him while sleeping. He was complaining about it a lot and I'd rather he be comfortable. I don't mind having had to buy two units - way better than the crazy amount of laundry I was doing, not to mention the esteem issues of waking up to a soaking bed every day! The plus of using a wired unit for s/t (3 months or so which seems more average to stop bedwetting) is that you can use the wired units on underwear with a pull-up on top to save wash while learning. You should not do this with the wireless units, as the hip sensor could be damaged if flooded. Bottom line - whether you choose a wired or wirelss alarm is a matter of personal preference, either way don't wait!
