I purchased the waterproof mattress pad because I have an aging dog who sleeps with me. I also purchased the waterproof duvet cover, but before I put it on, an accident happened on the bed and the waterproof mattress pad worked wonders. I didn't have to wash my feather bed topper. Since putting the waterproof duvet cover on the bed I've not had to worry about accidents getting past it. I still recommend the waterproof mattres pad. It's comfortable, fits the mattress well, is easy to care for, and works well. With a waterproof mattress pad this nice there's no reason to not have one.
